1991 VW Rallye Golf Mk2 - H345 RSX

The unmistakable lines of the Rallye Golf, which first appeared in 1989. Distinguishable by its box-flared wheel arches (similar to the Audi quattro, BMW E30 M3 and Lancia Delta Integrale) and rectangular projector headlamps.

Only around 5,000 of these very powerful Golf variants were built and they cost twice as much as a base Golf GTI.

Not too sure about the wheels the owner had fitted, but otherwise an exceptional looking car. Sadly, it no longer shows up on the DVLA records so it may not be around anymore.

Certainly pops ... maybe I should have gone the selective colouring route with this one! :)

Hello Paul,
Well I see you here at ip instead of 23! Fingers crossed for ip!
Not a car buff myself but I had something similar to this at one time - a cabriolet version in about 1990/91. Not sure what model it was - my memory isn't that good and to be frank the car was a bit girly and also without power-steering so it wasn't much fun to drive as it was really heavy! I got it through work out of the back end of some deal. However it is certainly stylish and more so than many more modern cars!
Nice shot, shame about the wheels!
Best wishes, Andy

Yes, the cabriolets can be a bit girly and you certainly miss the power steering. My old Scirocco is the same and the brakes also take a bit of getting used too! ;)
