HWW Ashbourne Derbyshire 2nd January 2025

A trip out to Derbyshire and Staffordshire included a short visit to Ashbourne. We parked in the Market Place and I took a few pics including this marker post outside the Town Hall.

It is a listed structure: "A mid 19th century triangular cast iron milestone against the wall of a building on east side of Market Place. It bears the name 'J Haywood Junr, Phoenix Foundry, Derby'".

Not only is this a lovely old marker post that deserves to be preserved but to me it seems a marker in time Pete. Made in the days long before roads were numbered and just imagine how long those journeys would have taken back then.
