Birmingham Snow Hill West Midlands January 1975

The once-splendid Great Western Railway Snow Hill station was slowly rotting away 8 years after through trains were withdrawn and 3 years since the last shuttles to Wolverhampton Low Level ran.

At this time the station was used as a car park and the trackbed was filled so cars could park across the platforms. This shot was taken on a Sunday when the car park was closed.

A great historical image and information very different now after it came back from the dead, Moor Street is the best Birmingham station.
Despite all the years I worked opposite Central street station I have no photos

Thanks Peter. Yes very different!
I have always tried to record the everyday scenes that become historic only with time but I wish I had taken many more.
