SVR Highley Shropshire 17th September 2022

Shrouded in steam the signalman & the fireman from British Railways Standard 4 4-6-0 75069 exchange single-line staffs. The fireman is giving up the one from Hampton Loade while the signalman is handing over the staff to the next crossing point at Arley to the south.

A late afternoon scene on the Saturday of the SVR Autumn Gala.

Hi Pete
A wonderful and interesting picture, which I like very much!
Very nice composition
I usually go to this SVR autumn gala, but didn't this year for a number of reasons... Pity!
Best Wishes, a nice week ahead, and stay safe!!

Hi Peter, thanks a lot. This was the first autumn gala I had been to since 2003 so it was about time! I hope you're keeping well. Cheers, Pete

A wonderful age of steam image showing the simple but effective safety procedure, do they still use a token system on the Derby to Matlock line

Pete, do UK heritage railways loco crews get exemption from wearing hi-viz?

Loose_Grip/Pete replied to GrahamH:

Yes they do in normal operation. We are in showbiz & Recreating the Experience in a hi-vis doesn't work! However in an emergency or any out of course situation they are worn. Track & trackside workers must always wear suitable PPE.
