WOW! A wonderful piece of video, Peter.
And it brings back so many good memories. As kids we often stayed at our great-grandfathe'rs house in Bakewell and it backed onto the embankment on top of which ran one of the the London to Manchester lines (the one that was shut down post Beeching). But we're old enough to remember the steam engines and the train drivers would always wave back as we always energetically waved at them!

Thanks very much Andy. I remember taking the train from Matlock to Bakewell in 1965 but surprisingly I can't remember if it was pulled by a steam engine or not! I do remember waving at the drivers in the 50s in Yorkshire when I was a kid though.

Very atmospheric video reminding me of days gone by when I remember steam trains and loved the smell and the noise, apart from the loud whistle. I can't seem to give this a star.
