Manchester Victoria Lancashire 8th June 1968

Totally rebuilt since this view Manchester Victoria station was an impressive place in 1968. British Railways steam finished in the Manchester area at the end of June 1968 and Black 5 4-6-0 45076, seen here in the banker's road, was sent to the scrapyard.

Thanks.
Look forward to seeing your Victoria pics. By 1968 it was mainly Black 5s & 8Fs although I did see Patricroft's Standard 5s & Caprottis there.

This brings back a few memories.. In the days when Manchester Victoria was a real station, not the underground car park it resembles today.

I agree. The loss of steam is one thing but they have destroyed most of the character of the station over the years.
