Black Crappie

A Black Crappie, Pomoxis nigromaculatus, a member of the Sunfish Family. This family also includes the Bluegill and Largemouth and Smallmouth Black Bass. This specimen, approximately 9 inches long, was caught on a yellow Rebel Crickhopper floating lure, twitched on the surface. Caught in Lake Loree at the Sunny Hill Resort in Greenville, Greene County, New York, summer, 2020. This is a popular Catskill Mountain resort. Crappie are handsome and hard fighting fish. It was returned to the lake immediately.
