Newton Tobacco Company (1943) Ltd
Another view of part of my 1/76 scale model railway, this building is actually a scenic cover for a three track traverser, which allows short rakes of wagons to be stored in hidden sidings beneath the roadways.
Scratch-built from a mixture of cardboard and MDF, it is covered with brick papers downloaded from the internet. It's not quite finished, and although this isn't high quality architectural modelling, hopefully it serves to convey some of the grimness of post-war industrial Britain!

When my kids were young I built them a model railway, - but just a toy really, and I always hoped that when i had more time, I would try to do something more ambitious! Well, now I have the time, but lack the ambition !! Still, it is fun to try out ideas, even if they take a long time to be realised !!
Ciao, Mike

I grew up in the fifties, and for me, many model railways that I see at exhibitions and so on, are far too clean! The reality of railways and the rail industry then, was one of unremitting grime and filth, and I've tried to capture some of this in the model, but I'm still on the steep part of the learning curve !!
Best, Mike
