Pine Mountain Trail

by Scott Holcomb
It is noteworthy that there are no pines on Pine Mountain. Here is found the Sargent cypress, Cupressus sargentii, in a unique "pygmy" form, maturing when only a meter or so high due to the low-nutrient serpentine soil.

This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C medium format film camera with a Carl Zeiss Distagon 1:4 f=50mm T* lens and Kowa L39•3C(UV) ø67 filter using Kodak Portra 400 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized with Photoshop.
