The Ahwahnee

Ansel Adams earned a modest living as a stage performer in the Ahwahnee Hotel in the late 1920s before he became famous for his photography. Just imagine what it was like to live in Yosemite Valley, waking up each morning surrounded by spectacular granite cliffs.

This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera and SMC PENTAX 67 1:4 45mm lens and 82mm Tiffen UV filter using Fuji 400-H film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

All the arts are related to each other. And an artist adapts his knowledge to learn other arts.

Scott Holcomb replied to homaris:

Mr. Adams was a multi-talented person. We are all fortunate that he discovered his true calling - photography. Through his wonderful photos he popularized North American wilderness areas, which led to preservation of those lands in the National Park system.

An awesome image, indeed, worthy homage to Adams.
