Extra Terrestrial

by Scott Holcomb
Hardly a week passes without an exciting discovery of some new exoplanet or asteroid. Not wanting to miss out on all of the fun, I have initiated my own search for extraterrestrial bodies. With great pride I can now announce the discovery of a previously undetected eroded rocky world orbiting in the outer reaches of our solar system. A very brief landing on the rugged surface allowed me to shoot this solitary photo. Although, the world has yet to be named, it has an uncanny resemblance to the landscapes of southwestern Utah. Taking a page from the first settlers in the new world of America, I hereby name this planetoid 'New Utah'.

This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera and Super-Multi-Coated Takumar/6X7 1:4.5/75 lens with a HOYA HMC 82mm O[G]) filter using Adox CHS 100 II film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

About my the spacecraft.
Well, I have taken a rented Nissan Armada and modified it for extraterrestrial use in my advanced aerospace toolshed (behind my house). It is silver and maroon with a very powerful engine and, of course, it is a 4X4 for quick escape velocity.
Please don't tell the rental company since the contract explicitly forbids extraterrestrial use and kindly don't inform the government vehicle agencies since I don't yet have a license to 'drive' a craft outside the stratosphere.
All that being said, it has a nice sound system, though . . .
