Road to Enchantment

by Scott Holcomb
Once in awhile we all deserve to venture into a change of pace from the regular lives that we lead. A magical road recently took me from the drab and uneventful into that alluring world of irresistible beauty.

This photo was taken by a Kowa/SIX medium format film camera and KOWA 1:3.5/55mm lens with a Kowa L39•3C(UV) ø67 filter using Fuji 160NS film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Scott Holcomb replied to Marta Wojtkowska:

This time of the year (March) it is a snow-covered, impassable landscape in the Paria Canyon, Utah (1,750 meters above sea level).

Such a beautiful part of the world. Your photo captures the essence of that beauty.

Scott Holcomb replied to Bob Taylor:

This land was protected as an National Monument until our president, urged by the mining industry, decided that such a classification was an "overreach" by past administrations.
