Palace Hotel

by Scott Holcomb
In the 1870’s, visitors to the South Grove named this tree after San Francisco’s, newly built, elegant seven story Palace Hotel. The large opening in the base of the tree reminded visitors of the central courtyard carriage entrance called the Grand Court.
