I remember Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the Mexico Olympics in ‘68 making this powerful gesture in the name of justice and equality. Fifty years ago! They were subsequently ostracised and mistreated. A beautiful, rebellious gesture, just like “ taking the knee”, beautifully photographed and processed. Iconic.
