Striking! I can easily read this as a contrast in determination -- man's quest to reach into the skies, as nature calmly ignores our efforts and presses onward, and all that. But, even aside from implication, it is indeed just a lovely composition.

Many thanks Colin... I think I was struggling with my own determination that day - it was extremely cold, my fingers had frozen up, and I had to somehow remove a new memory card from its impenetrable packaging... fortunately the seagulls didn't entirely forsake me ;)
