The oldest remains of Château Ganne (Ganne Castle) - the most important estate of the Pommeraie family - which were uncovered during excavations, date back to the 10th century. The fortress was mainly built in the 11th and 12th centuries, after which it was abandoned and fell into disrepair.

The ruins - including the impressive gate tower, a chapel, bakery and residential building - are located in the middle of the woods near the village of La Pommeraye.
