Leaf patterns

Happened to notice this leaf stuck to a narrow tree trunk when I went for a walk in Fish Creek Park, on 26 August 2013. Glad of the tiny patch of bright orange lichen growing near it.

It's another brutally cold day today, just like yesterday. I have a birding walk with friends, so yet another day of bundling up with endless layers of clothing and having to scrape the ice off my car windows. Stay warm, everyone!

Excellent mosaic from the veins of the leaf Anne ... striking light too to bring this out.

I believe we are having one of the coldest winters this season ... we have been in the -18C area with a possible break on Thursday at -3C ... it has bee tough on the animal this year.

Unfortunately I have not had access to the Swans for about a week, the Commodore of the Scarborough Bluff's Yacht Club (SBYC) has kicked everyone off of their property ... and that's where 99% of all the Trumpeter and Mute Swans are ... I only have access to the Scarborough Bluffs Sailing Club (SBSC), so I cannot get near the Swans at all ... we have all been threatened to be charged with trespassing ... so I will not be able to feed, count nor record the Swans until they come back to the public ramps ... but due to the cold weather, that public bay area is totally inaccessible to the Swans due to the jagged ice ... too bad, and it is one of the worst Winters they have had. I probably will not see them until mid to late February ... but if Winter continues in this manner, maybe not until early March.

There are a few Yacht Club members assisting in the feeding, so it is better than nothing. We will see what happens!!
