Ominous clouds after the harvest

On Saturday, 28 September 2013, I spent a few most enjoyable hours wandering round the Saskatoon Farm (S of Calgary) with my youngest daughter and a couple of people who belong to the photography group that she runs. On the way home, I was going to get gas for my car and some much-needed food shopping. However, I couldn't change lanes in time and found myself turning left instead of right. I happened to notice the build-up of some rather dramatic clouds and decided to just keep on driving west to the edge of the city limits. This view is a typical rural scene, with the Rocky Mountains in the far distance, but I never get tired of seeing this view. On the opposite side of the gravel road, farmers were still harvesting their enormous, hillside field. I was happy to come across a beautiful white Pigeon perched on a high wire and also a very attractive female Ruffed Grouse (red form) that gave me a chance for a shot or two and then took off with its usual powerful flapping of wings. The following day, Sunday, my daughter went for a drive in a car that she had rented for the weekend, to Kananaskis, and found herself driving in SNOW. To end her day, she pulled in at a drive-through in the city and a woman driving behind her failed to stop! A snowstorm and being rear-ended was not what my daughter had planned. As they say, LIFE is what happens when you're making plans : )
