Feels strange wishing everyone a Happy WInter - it has been "winter" here in Calgary for so long already, LOL. Thought a bright red Anthurium would be a welcome sight on this cold, colourless day : ) This one was photographed at the Calgary Zoo more than a year ago, on 24th November 2009.

"Anthurium is a large genus of about 600- 800 (possibly 1,000) species, belonging to the arum family (Araceae). Anthurium can also be called "Flamingo Flower" or "Boy Flower", both referring to the structure of the spathe and spadix."
