has weathered this window frame -
the original building was erected in the late 1800s -
in 1904, when fire destroyed most of the plant -
it was replaced with a brick structure -
considering the age of this facility -
would consider it well worth re-purposing -
know someone who would love to do it -
just a little glitch in the way -
finances !
he has been in the front area when it was a thrift store -
said it has wooden floors .. tall ceilings -
this would be nice to 'tour' -
The Burlington Coffin Company

Update: as of Feb. 19, 2016 -- this 100,000 sq ft piece of history is being demolished.
There are no plans to use that entire city block.
Just as my soul aches when a Green Soul is removed, when part of history is taken and brushed away as it never existed -- I get a bad feeling ..
** There is an empty lot in this space now; chain link fence around it. The owners said they had no plans to do anything with it. At least that part is true.... they haven't. **

... I may be totally wrong ... but do wonder if the size has something to do with it.
My town is small-town-USA ... Burlington - though next door - is larger.
We have demolished some buildings here, but the mind-set is save ... just wait until Oneida Lofts are complete ... there are more buildings around the Court Square in process of re-hab. More documentation of our History ...
