www.bbc.com/travel/article/20200709-chinguetti-mauritanias-ancient-saharan-city
As the Sahara continues to expand southward at an alarmingly fast rate and encroach on Chinguetti’s flat-roofed buildings, and with climate change recently causing seasonal flash flooding to rip through the town, the future of these Islamic treasures remains in jeopardy.
This is a great image, Annemarie (the whole series has been spectacular). The perspective of the buildings down the lane, the position of the man and the colour contrast between his clothes and the red surroundings is just perfect.
