When people recycled but did not call it recycling....

Around Deptford, you will see these strange looking fences blocking off the front yards of local council estates. It appears that these were WWII stretchers, used to carry to wounded, which, when no longer needed, were repurposed into fences/ralings.... You can find some in Peckham and Brixton also.
