Replacing the
Cape St George lighthouse , this one (at right) was erected in 1898 and first lit on 1 May 1899. It operated until January 1994, when it was replaced by the new solar powered LED light at left (and the site was de-manned - lighthouse keeper's house at right). The old light apparently is still lit for an annual Lighthouse Weekend in August of most years. As can be seen in the background, this is clearly at the entrance to Jervis Bay. View large. Happy Wednesday Wall, everyone.
