Big change from mining to a quiet residential area.

o0o the picture of the miners is brilliant George ... a few stories could
be told from them I'm sure ... and now all that is left ... is what you see ...
will vegetation ever grow there again I wonder o0o

It's now over 50 years since the closure and even weeds struggle to grow there, Bev. There is no topsoil and acids leaching from the rocks. Maybe eventually (I hope so).

well I reckon some of those guys some of the time
were pretty grumpy ;-)

Sadly the dump and run is the lot of many areas . Big money from the minerals/petroleum etc doesnt live there so they dont give a damn.

Here.. Oklahoma now has to contend with more and more 'Quakes thanks to fracking. The petro companies have called the many geologists reports lies .
