Did you know there are over 12,000 species of moss?!!!! I had NO IDEA!!!! I've always loved moss but I've only recently become fascinated now that I have a camera and lens capable of taking good pictures of all the tiny things around me. Imagine my delight when I discovered this feathery moss!! Oregon Beaked Moss is considered to be one of the most beautiful mosses in the western US, and it grows on our property! It can be found growing at the bases and lower parts of tree trunks, fallen and decaying trees and stumps; it also grows on the forest floor, but I have not see this.
If you would like to know more about different species of moss including Oregon Beaked Moss, this site was very nice!
