O Hai! Behold the Catalina Macaw Hybrid

A few days ago I posted a picture of a Ruby Macaw hybrid , which is a cross between a Scarlet and Greenwing Macaw. The Catalina Macaw is a cross between a Scarlet and a Blue & Gold Macaw, and is actually a cross that occurs sometimes in the wild. Male Scarlet Macaws will occasionally breed with Blue & Gold females because Scarlet females are less common.

This macaw was one of the featured birds at Chris Biro's Pirate's Parrot Show, which Steve and I got to see at the Jackson County Fair in July. Unlike many bird shows that are all about cute tricks and promoting parrots as pets, Chris educates the audience about parrots and conservation in a fun and interactive format!

If you would like to know more about Catalina Macaws, I found a page here: Catalina Macaws To learn about Chris Biro's wonderful parrot conservation organization, please visit Bird Recovery International

By the way, I've uploaded two other pictures today and I hope you'll visit them too!

Thanks to all of you who have visited and have left comments and favorites! I try to go to all of your pages within a day or two and is a highlight for me to see your beautiful photography! :)
