A few days ago I posted a fun portrait of this bird, and here is another picture to feast your eyes on! What a beauty! I am fascinated by animal husbandry, so seeing the hybrids featured at Chris Biro's Pirate's Parrot Show was fascinating to me. I was so surprised to find out that this hybrid (
Scarlet x
Blue & Gold) can occur in the wild, since the parent birds are so different in coloration! However, when mates of the same species are not available, this cross-breeding sometimes happens.
I founf a fascinating website that discusses the known captive and wild hybrid crosses with pictures and a lot of information.
