I've been crazy about parrots for many years, and my first encounter was when a friend of mine introduced me to her mother's macaw and prompted me to hold her. I was just blown away at this bird's beauty and intelligence. This is the amazing Blue & Gold macaw. They can live to be 80 years old and are one of the largest, with a wingspan of up to 45"! Their calls can be heard over a mile away in the jungle!!
