Lower Highland Lake

In California's Sierra Nevada west of the main crest, in an inlier in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness (which means it's accessible by automobile). Judging by the traffic we saw it's a popular fishing area. Looking east toward the Sierra Nevada crest. The lake elevation is 8584 ft/2616 m, so the crest is higher than it seems!

A lovely landscape image, Steve. At that altitude, I'd imagine this lake would freeze in the winters.

Thanks, George! The lake certainly freezes over in the winter, thick enough to skate on! I think it's deep enough, tho, it doesn't freeze clear thru, so they don't have to restock the fish from scratch every spring.
