Hell's Canyon, Snake River, Oregon-Idaho, USA

Oregon on the left, Idaho on the right. Looking downstream from near the base of Hell's Canyon Dam. This is the put-in point for river trips. All the good rapids are in the first few hours; then the countryside, and the river, get a bit flatter. So you can then take a float trip all the way to Lewiston, Idaho, for a couple of days--or, you can catch the jet boat going back upstream thru the rapids and do it all in a day! That's what we did.
