Such a sweet face! I hate to admit it, but my immediate thought was wondering what kind of scoundrel he turned out to be. Also, I wonder what that patch on the lad's sleeve denotes. Happy Independence Day.

RicksPics replied to RicksPics:

At first I thought the patch showed some kind of Christian cross and I went searching fruitlessly for a cross with a ring at the top. I now see that it is an anchor, consistant with his navy pea coat. Seeking to gain extra credit, I submit this: The most accepted historical theory is that the name "pea coat" comes from the 16th-century Dutch or Frisian word pije (or pij), which described a heavy, coarse twilled blue cloth. Sailors wore jackets made of this material, which English speakers simply called p-coats. This evolved to pea coat or pea jacket.
