A lovely Christmas scene, Deborah. Kudos to the little girl's mom, for sending her to bed on Christmas Eve in curlers. We were never in any condition on the Eve to pull off anything like that. Merry Christmas.

I agree. It was all about trying to get to sleep as soon as possible before the earliest possible (parentally enforced) 6:30am kid wake up.
Which meant about three or four hours, tops.
If you mean "celebrating", that usually happened Christmas night. : )

Thank you, Nouchetdu38! I found this photo and about 10 others from the same family in a nearby second hand shop. This family lived in a nearby village in the 1950s.
