By the Fence

Originally uploaded for the Vintage Photos Theme Park theme of: FENCES, WALLS, OR OTHER BOUNDARY MARKERS - and brought forward for HFF!
Here's a classic picket fence dividing what looks like a small town American Main Street from a backyard.
Behind the sweet little child is either a garden shed or an outhouse (in the American sense, meaning an outside toilet).
This is a photo from an album of photographs I bought at a town-wide sale in NY state. I believe it came from Michigan.
HFF everyone - and best wishes for a beautiful weekend!

I find your old images fascinating Deborah
It looks as though the catch and bolt are on the outside which could prove problematical to anyone on the inside ;-))

A sweet little one and a wonderful old photograph Deborah that has survived really well.

You have to wonder why people get rid of photographs. They are a window into their past. A lovely find for you though, and now for us.

HFF and have a good weekend.

Thank you for your visits and kind comments, everyone!
It makes me so happy to share my vintage photos with all of you in this lovely group!

Roger: Hahaha! what a keen eye you have - and you're absolutely right. No outhouse would have an outside lock!! Can't believe I didn't spot that!

Boarischa Krautmo: I know! I used to feel a little disappointed about the focus - but the child's face is still sweet and I love that you can see the brickwork on the Main Street building across the street!

Ecobird: I will NEVER understand it - vintage photo fanatic as I am! I had so many kind library patrons bring me old pics they no longer wanted - and I couldn't help saying, "Are you sure? Really?" etc. again and again. I was so appreciative but always astonished!
