My Father and the Really Big American Car

Brought forward for the vintage Photos Theme Park theme of : CAR PLUS WOMAN OR MAN

Some of you may have seen the photo of my brother taken beside the "really big American fridge" to show our friends and relatives in England.
Well, this was a little earlier - and sent by my father (who came over to the U.S. five months earlier) to show us our new (huge!) car.
Like the majority of people we knew in England at the time (1964) we had never owned a car - so, (especially for my car mad brother) owning this was going to be bliss.
Nicholas tells me that this was a 1961 Mercury Meteor coupe.
My Dad told me it was made in Canada and was a a Ford Lincoln Mercury, 1961, and cost 1,250 dollars.

Written on the back:
Bonny Green Bess!

This is classic, Deborah. Look at the shine on that door panel! It's a clean machine. Very cool.

I guess you'd find them now ( if you could find them) at vintage car shows - all shiny, refurbished and worth a fortune. : )
