Pietro Neri-Baraldi by Caldesi

Pietro Neri-Baraldi (1828-1902); Italian tenor.
In 1850 he made his debut at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna as Ernesto in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale". In the following years he appeared in Verona, Ravenna, Ferrara, Ancona, Pisa, Turin and Milan. He then appeared in Paris during the 1854/1855 season singing at both the Théâtre-Italien and the Paris Grand Opéra. He also made guest appearances at New York, Edinburgh and Barcelona. He sang a wide range of roles in London during the years 1857/68; first at the Lyceum Theatre and then at Covent Garden. Here he sang in 1863 the role of Tonio in "La Fille du régiment" and Elvino in "La Sonnambula", both with Adelina Patti as his partner. In 1863 he married the Austrian soprano Antonietta Fricci (1840–1912) and he often appeared with her on stage.
