Hermine Rudersdorff (1822-1882); Ukrainian soprano.
She studied singing with Bordogni in Paris and with Micherout in Milan. She made her professional debut by singing at concerts in Germany. Her first major success was, when at the première of Mendelssohn’s “Lobgesang” in 1840 at Leipzig, she sang the solo for soprano. In 1841 she made her stage debut at the “Hoftheater von Karlsruhe”. In the following years she was engaged at Frankfurt a.M. (1842/44), Mannheim (1844/46), Breslau (1846/48), Dresden (1848/50) and Berlin (1851/54). In 1854 she continued her career in London at the Drury Lane Theatre, the Royal Italian Opera and the St. James Theatre. In 1871/72 she performed very successfully in the USA at the Boston Festival. In Boston she settled as a singing teacher; her most wellknown pupils were Lilian Henschel-Bailey and Emma Thursby.
