Stigler was founded in Milan in 1859 by Augusto Stigler, a German engineer. In 1870 the firm installed the first lift and it was successful all over the world. In the 1920s they tried making an electric car, but it was unsuccessful, the trolley bus they made in the same time was successful. In 1947 it was taken over by OTIS.
