Paris 2024 – Memorial for Robert Desaimard

Died on 27 August 1944 for the liberation of Paris from the Germans.

“Born on September 7, 1927 in Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme), living at 27 rue de Rouen in Courbevoie, Robert Desaimard joined the Vengeance group in that city in 1944.

On August 27, 1944, while he and part of his group had been occupying the Ministry of Pensions since August 19, he volunteered to be part of a patrol, commanded by Sergeant Fanget, tasked with cleaning a building located at 14 rue de Bellechasse, from where, for several days, shots had been fired at passers-by. Having reached the roof of the building, he was hit by a bullet that shattered his skull. His body, picked up by his comrades, was taken to Necker Hospital.”
