Schoolyard of the former Tusschenschool
The Tusschenschool (directly translated into In-between School, in-between the school for the poor and the school for full-fee paying schools) was for the people with low income. They payed a small amount for the education. The Tusschenschool in Leiden was founded in 1856 by the writer and mæcenas Johannes Kneppelhout.
