Netherlands 2021 – Maarssen

A suburb of Utrecht. To the right the important A2 motorway, to the left the important Amsterdam–Rhine Canal, which is the busiest canal in the world. It was designed by Anton Mussert, who later gained notoriety for being the leader of the national-socialist movement in the Netherland and collaborating with the Germans in the Second World War. He was executed for high treason in 1946. The canal opened in 1938. It connects the harbour of Amsterdam with Germany.
