Ravenna 2017 – Battistero Neoniano – Jesus baptisted by John the Baptist

The Baptistery of Neon was constructed at the end of the 4th and beginning of the 5th century on the spot of a Roman bath. It was part of the old Duomo, which was demolished in 1734. The Baptistery is named after bishop Neon, under who’s leadership the building was finished and who added the mosaics.
