Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde 2014 – Rakshasa

A Raksaha is a wood demon, mostly living of human flesh. This one is from Java, made between 1300–1500 AD. He probably stood as a doorkeeper outside a Hindu temple.

The Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde is the Dutch national museum of ethnology. It was established in 1837.
