Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde 2014 – Thangka with Mahakala

A Thangka is a scroll-painting. This one dates from 1775–1800, and was made from linen in Tibet. It depicts, amongst others, Mahakala, one of the eight protectors of Buddhism.

The Rijksmuseum Volkenkunde is the Dutch national museum of ethnology. It was established in 1837.
