The position of the sails can convey a message. This position, slightly past the middle, is the position of mourning (in the South East of the Netherlands the sails are just before the middle to indicate mourning)

Wednesday July 23, 2014 was a day of national mourning in the Netherlands, because of the shooting down of flight MH17 over Ukraine. Nearly 300 people died, nearly 200 were Dutch.
