In the recent years some people have tried to add groups who have to be commemorated too. These were:
- Collaborators who joined the Waffen SS
- German soldiers who occupied the Netherlands
- Moroccan soldiers (who didn't fight in the Netherlands)

Of course much to the chagrin of decent people and of the Jewish community, as they suffered the most from the Second World War in the Netherlands.
