Originally a German sailing ship, built in Bremerhaven in 1896. It sailed the Bremerhaven–Hong Kong and Hamburg–Chile routes. In the First World War the ship was captured by the Portuguese. It was loaned to the British during the rest of the war, afterwards it became a Portuguese Navy training ship. In 1983 she was bought by a German organisation and made into a museum ship.
