After the Second World War, the Soviet authorities and the communist quickly established their repressive state, often using the same facilities as the Nazis.

The Zeitgeschichtliches Forum Leipzig is part of the Haus der Geschichte, or History House. The Haus der Geschichte is located in Bonn, Berlin and in Leipzig. It is a museum and a collection of the history of Germany.
