Hamburg – Alte Post

Former Post Office. The building dates from 1847. The tower was used for an optical telegraph system. It served as Post Office until 1887. After that, it was an office, archives, also the seat of a scientific institute. From 1968 to 1971 the building was rebuilt into office and shopping space, the inside was demolished, only the façade was left standing. Now the building is again rebuilt, the 1970s interior has been removed.
