Salt Glazed Pottery

by Valfal
I got some practice time with manual focus, and thought I would try B&W for a change, too. I'm beginning to develop an appreciation for it. :-)

These salt glazed jars were made by Eldreth, a local pottery factory based in Nottingham, Pennsylvania.

*See original unretouched image in note box.

Thank you so much for your comments and faves, friends and visitors! It is such an encouragement to me! :-)

"Glazed and confused for so long it's not true...."

Sorry Val, I am in music mode. Hey, I know this pottery well as I had a girlfriend that had a whole set. This works so well in b/w and your focus is beautiful. (Are you loving the manual settings now?)

Your color photo is really nice too... so warm.

Hahaha, sing away! Yes, I am very much loving manual focus; why I was scared of it is beyond me, lol! I don't think I can go back to auto unless I'm photographing my grandsons in motion or something similar. Thank you for your kind words and fave, Karen :-))

Great composition an I love the drama of the listing and the black and white!

Valfal replied to Jan:

Thank you very much, Jan! I'm starting to like B&W; it seems to bring out textural details better, and adds a bit of drama where needed :-)

Thank you, Gillian; I'm glad you like the color version! That's what I like about art in its many forms; different stroke for different folks :-))
