Caspian Tern / Reuzenstern (Hydroprogne caspia)

This was a difficult shoot: declining light and a very hazy sky, but the Caspian Tern is not a common bird here and it's a first and a lifer, so I shot him anyway. :)

I put one other shot in a note.
Edit: I just added a note with a Common Tern to show the difference.

Thank you so much, everyone, for the nice comments. Isn't he great? A great deal bigger than a Common Tern. I just added a shot of a Common Tern for comparison in a note.

So amazing, amazing, amazing!!! Love the main picture and love the insets. So impressive, your timing is just GREAT!!

I can't tell the difference between the two types but I bet one is a slightly different size or I'm not noticing a key difference. They are both lovely. Grats on getting these pictures!!!! *high five*

LOL, just read the comment you wrote above...*cackle* YES, it's a size difference! :D What would I do without you?! :D

Lol. Yes, size sometimes does make a difference!! :) :)
Oh, and look at the bill. The Caspian Tern has a much more massive bill than the Common Tern.
Thank you so much for your great comment, Janet.
